Since being in Fiji I’ve been listening to a lot more podcasts. Almost everyday I go on a walk, put my ear buds in and listen to an episode or two of my favorite podcasts. Or when I’m on the bus going in to town, podcasts make the bus ride extra enjoyable. Or on a 17 hour plane ride.
I‘m really into health and fitness so I started out listening to podcasts only about that but since I’ve expanded a bit.
Lately I’ve been listening to Oprah’s Super Soul Conversation podcast. She usually has guest speakers on who she interviews about their expertise. My favorite episode of hers is with Gretchen Rubin, 8 Rules to Happiness. I’m actually reading Gretchen’s book right now, the Happiness Project, so I was so excited to see her pop up in Oprah’s podcast too! The stars were aligned. Oprah’s podcast talks about God a bit too much for my liking, but even with that I still enjoy it.
Next is Pod Saves America. Ok so being in Fiji my access to American news is slightly different. Not that I was super into politics before coming here, I still like to be in the loop. Especially when I have people asking me about Trump at least twice a week. Since I don’t have a TV and I’m not surrounded by people talking about politics, I listen to this podcast to stay up to date on things happening in America.
Just an all around good podcast show is the TedTalks, there’s TedTalks Health, TedTalks Daily, TedTalks Business, TedTalks Politics, etc. I listen to TedTalks Health, TedTalks daily and the OG TedTalks. I love the different view points and listening to people talk so passionately about their work. It makes me feel like I’m back in school sitting in a really interesting class and having conversations that matter. I think anyone can find a TedTalks show that they’ll enjoy.
Stuff you should know, ahh I love this one! At first I thought I’d get sick of their voices but I haven’t yet! These two guys make me laugh and they’re talking about some interesting things like narcissism and how population works. And they also talk about some useless information like how orchids work and how vomit phobia works. I’m becoming a bottomless pit of useless information that I plan to use to impress my family and friends at a dinner party one night. … And by “dinner party” I mean a back yard picnic, do people actually go to dinner parties? … I digress, but I highly recommend this one.
And last but not least, the very first podcast I ever listened to and still do is the Chalene Show! … I first heard of Chalene through her workouts and then a friend recommended her podcast and I enjoyed it since! She talks about health and fitness for the most part and sprinkles in some self love too. What I like most about her is that she has people come on the show with different opinions than her own and interviews them to hear the other side of the story. Such as using round up on crops, good or bad? She is against using it and she interviewed someone who thinks it’s safe for humans. I love her open mind set and willingness to expand.
There you have it, my top five podcasts! What are your favorite podcasts? I’m always looking for new ones to listen to, esp for when I’m on that loooong plane ride home!
