Disclaimer: everything I post about is my opinion/personal experience and in no way reflects the views of the Peace Corps.
Currently I am living in Fiji. I am on the main island of Viti Levu (literal translation is “Big Fiji”) in a village, Toge. I live in what many would call a “Tiny house,” except I don’t think HGTV will be calling me up for a tour anytime soon. I have electricity, decent cell service, and running water on good days. I am pretty happy in my house, I have a pet dog who I found as a manged puppy behind my neighbors house the week I got to site. Most of the time I have puppies and dogs hanging out on my porch because I always feed them, I’ll do whatever is necessary to be surrounded by animals all day.
Currently my main project is working with the Women’s Group on creating a sustainable income for them. We decided to do this by growing an organic farm and selling the produce. Empowering women really lights up my soul, I am so grateful to be part of an amazing community that fulfills my passions.
My secondary project is at school working with the kids. I developed the pen-pal group, a group of 11 students who write letters back and forth to their pen pal in the U.S. We focus on writing, reading, and cultural exchanges. We have so much fun and learn in a very relaxed environment. Watch a video we created here!
When I first created this blog, I planned on only posting about my Peace Corps experience. But I’d like to expand from that now. I want to write about all my passions; female empowerment, holistic health, climate change, etc. Really my main passion is helping other lead their best life possible. So if that interests you, sign up for the emails and introduce yourself!
Most posts will be sent via email and only some will be posted on the blog, I want to keep it personal! So make sure you sign up for the emails, I look forward to chatting with you!
